Overview

Science Content:

Energy can be transformed or transferred but is never lost.

Estimated Time: 1-2 class periods

Construct a model of the energy and matter transformations and transfers within the hydrologic cycle process by using a heat source to represent the sun. Plan and conduct an investigation regarding thermal energy transfer in the hydrologic cycle. (e.g. Explore the effects of increasing water temperature of the water on the amount of water vapor produced, and the speed of evaporation; Relate condensation to the transformation of water vapor into water droplets by placing a piece of cold plastic or glass above the water as it is evaporating. Relate precipitation to the water droplets condensing and falling downward from the plastic/glass)
